"HOME OF COOL STUFF SINCE 1984!""Younger Than Yesterday" is the retail wing of a company begun in 1984 as 'The Peoria Record Company', not surprisingly located in Peoria, Illinois, by CRAIG MOORE. Craig started buying & selling records in 1978 in the early days of 'record shows', then moved into mail order through Goldmine ads in 1980, and after promoting the very first record show in Peoria in May of 1984, the retail store opened that fall. The operation moved to the current location in 1998, adopting the more evocative name borrowed from one of Craig's all-time favorite groups, The Byrds. The store features a vast, constantly changing & growing array of used & new LP's, 45's, CD's, cassettes, videos, DVD's, box sets, memorabilia, and a diverse assortment of vintage rock 'n roll & pop culture memorabilia. There is no corporate or big business influence here, trends are sneered at. Craig & crew are also widely respected for the past 2 decades as the source of a regular, old-school printed & mailed "KILLER CATALOG" wherein all regular customers get first crack at all of the best new arrival collectibles. If you still enjoy actual hard-copy catalogs that you can leave on the coffee table or stick in your pocket, you can get it simply by requesting it and providing your postal mailing address. The current and previous catalogs are now also available on line at this website! (We put the latest catalog on the website one week after mailing it to those hard-copy subscribers)
'Younger Than Yesterday' takes pride in a global reputation for quality merchandise and customer service. You have discovered a truly independent music & more shop, with firm roots in pop culture from the 50's on. It's the natural progression for it's founder who had a record player by the age of 5 and a nice record collection well before the coming of The Beatles. Not to mention his more than 40 years as a professional musician!
"ON TO THE ROCK & ROLL
HALL OF FAME"The owner of "Younger Than Yesterday" is part of the garage band chapter of the REAL history of American rock and roll. As the bass player/vocalist/songwriter with his Iowa-based band GONN, in 1966 Craig co-wrote with guitarist Rex Garrett their 1st single "Blackout Of Gretely", which is now included on the legendary RHINO box set "Nuggets" (the biggest-selling compilation box set in history, by the way). The tales of GONN have already passed into garage band legend, appearing in concert in the 60's with The American Breed, The Trolls, The Mob, Shadows Of Knight, and other Chicago greats of the day. Their 60's recordings have been issued and reissued for 3 decades by Voxx/Bomp, Sundazed, Rhino, and on their own series of 7" & CD's, including a 1996 reunion album which preceded their 1997 European tour. Since then the band has reunited for European tours in 2001 and 2009, a southern USA tour in 2004, were invited to play at the Rock 'N Roll Hall Of Fame in Cleveland, and performed as special guests on the field at Cleveland Brown's Stadium! Plus, in 2011, the flip-side of "Blackout Of Gretely", their 1966 cover of the soul classic "Pain In My Heart" is now included in the soundtrack to Brian Jun's brooding film "Joint Body", starring Mark Pellegrino ('Lost') & Alicia Witt ('88 Minutes').

Craig (along with GONN alumnus Gerry Gabel) also was with the group ILMO SMOKEHOUSE whose 1969 self-produced LP was issued world wide by Roulette Records in 1971. While with that band and the variations thereof thru the 70's he played concerts with BIG BROTHER & THE HOLDING COMPANY, BB KING, JAMES GANG, AMBOY DUKES, RUSH, KISS, BLUE OYSTER CULT, and many more. He continues to write, record & perform today. His most recent solo album is 2004's "Still Tomorrow Yesterday", with guest players from THE YARDBIRDS & THE CREATION, recorded in such diverse places as SUN STUDIO in Memphis, RMS STUDIOS in London, and Delta Studios in Rome.
In September of 2004 GONN was inducted into the IOWA ROCK 'N ROLL HALL OF FAME, alongside THE EVERLY BROTHERS, BUDDY HOLLY, TOMMY BOLIN, THE TRASHMEN, FENDERMEN, BOBBY VEE, DEE JAY & THE RUNAWAYS, and many more.
most recent live musical endeavors are as bassist/vocalist for the
Woodstock-era power trio SunshineXperiencE, and bassist for the
all-instrumental group SPEECHLESS, both of which also feature Younger
Than Yesterday's Matt Warren on drums. Craig & Matt are also
spearheading the live 'tribute' special events inside Younger Than
Yesterday (see the link on this website).
You can do business with Younger Than Yesterday with confidence, knowing you are dealing with someone who has been not only around but INSIDE the business of music and 6 decades of pop culture, with a reputation for knowledge, experience, quality, and friendly service.
